Flexible Electronics

Electronic devices are everywhere in today’s fast paced life, these devices are all rigid, can you image having flexible devices that do not break when dropped or sat on, or even having clothes that are actually electronic devices acting as your smartphone,  or controller for your heads up display, communication device, or even your computer.  Batteries and solar cells could also be flexible, so your clothes could actually be a solar cell plus a device.  Flexible electronics would form the foundation for devices such as displays, electronic paper etc. I predict that the use of flexible electronics will be widespread in the not too distant future.

 Flexible electronics promise some very cool products in the not so distant future. They include:

• ·         Smart bandages that monitor the vital signs of a wounded soldier.
• ·         Sensors that can detect where the weakest part of an airplane.
• ·         Flexible glass that can display digital imagery e.g. flexible screens.

• ·         Smart trading cards that can transmit information to a digital display.
• ·         Electronic paper.
• ·         Wearable electronic devices e.g. smartphones, etc.
• ·         And many more…..

I predict that the use of flexible electronics will be widespread in the not too distant future.
