Mobile Technologies



This technology comprises many different devices such smartphone, tablets, remote sensors collecting information (e.g. mobile connected electricity meter). Modern smartphones are being used as a form of data entry into back-end systems and online terminal into systems, online banking can be conducted on a mobile device if required; tablets are being used by sales agents to complete sales remotely. 

Currently the sales of tablets and smartphones are by far outstripping the sales of laptop computers. Currently the wireless access between these devices and the backend systems is expensive; this will become cheaper thereby encouraging the proliferation of many forms of mobile devices. Device will become smaller and more power efficient as less hungry mobile chip are developed, and hey will be able to synchonise data between the numerous wireless devices and desktops easily. Nearly flawless speech recognition will change the way we use these devices.

In Japan, mobile phone users are using their phones (near field technology) to swipe their phones near POS terminals to purchase items. This technology will definitely be part of our daily lives.
